Mariner Square Athletic Club offers over 40 group exercise classes weekly. Upbeat cardio classes, challenging weight training classes, cultural dance and a variety of step and circuit training classes to keep your workouts interesting! Aerobics Class Descriptions
- Shall We Dance ($)
- Ballroom dance lessons.Fee based. Information and sign-ups can be obtained at the Courtesy Desk. Taught by Danny Nguyen, a renowned dancer in the Bay Area.
- Children's Ballet ($)
- For children ages 3-10. Taught by Danny Nguyen a renowned dancer in the Bay Area. These classes are fee based and flyers with more information are available at the Courtesy Desk.
- AbLates
- This is a 30 minute Pilates based abdominal class.
- Aqua Circuit:
- Take your workout to the pool with this invigorating non-impact class.
- Body Sculpt/Abs
- A total body conditioning and strengthening class with free weight and calorie burning exercises. This is the perfect workout for those wishing to tone-up and slim down.
- Boot Camps
- Fast paced, four-week programs with activities to push each individual to do their personal best. Boot Camp fee are $150 for members and $250 for non-members. Space is limited. Schedules and sign-up information available at our Courtesy Desk.
- Cardio Blast
- A great aerobic workout alternating between high-impact moves to get the heart-rate up quickly, interspersed with low-impact moves to work the entire body more gently.
- Cardio Combo
- A great workout for your heart and lungs. After an easy warm-up, a simple combination of exercises will be introduced alternating the step decks with low-impact aerobics
- Circuit Training
- The ultimate calorie burner! Alternating segments of cardio, weights, and calisthenics, this class will give you an incredible workout. Combines with Gentle Fitness on Fridays. Team taught.
- Cultural Dance
- An exciting fusion of dance set to rhythms and beats from all around the world; African, Caribbean, Jazz, Swing, Salsa and Hip-Hop music.
- Cycling
- An excellent aerobic workout, a biking adventure set to music. Be sure to bring a water bottle and a towel; bike shorts and a gel seat are also recommended.
- Gentle Fitness
- Gentle classes are designed for those who are: pre/post natal, seniors, new to exercise or recovering from injuries.
- Taught in a supportive environment and conducive to those who are looking for a gentle approach, those returning to exercise or newly beginning and those who are recovering from injuries. This class will focus on a range of motion, balance, flexibility and strength exercises with a great ending stretch.
- Gentle Conditioning
- This workout incorporates cardio, step, strength, resistance and balance taught in progressions that will benefit the entire body while improving cardiovascular endurance.
- Gentle Aqua
- Get in the pool and benefit from the supportive environment of the water as you exercise and work your muscles in flexibility and conditioning exercises.
- Gentle Stretch
- Flexibility, alignment and relaxation are the focus of the class. Stretch classes are open to individuals at all fitness levels
- H20 Aerobics
- Use water resistance to develop strength and cardiovascular endurance.
- Karate
- A martial art founded on the effectiveness of every part of the body & mind for the purpose of self defense, it is a weaponless art which employs various techniques of punching, striking and kicking. Karate is designed for everyone and is free to all members over the age of 18.
- Kickboxing/Abs
- An intense cardio workout with an exciting combination of martial arts and aerobic conditioning.
- Latin Dance
- You will learn to develop skills in such dances as Merengue, Lambada, and Salsa, while exploring historical and cultural influences, reducing stress and staying fit.
- Pilates
- This method of exercise and physical movement is designed to improve your flexibility, lung capacity, circulation, posture, balance and core strength. If you are new to pilates, please attend either the Thursday or Friday class first.
- Pump it up
- This is a weight program that challenges every major muscle in your body. Both men and women of all ages and experience levels can benefit from this high repetition, low impact, back-to-basics workout.
- Step
- A step class, which includes warm-up, step routine, high/low impact moves, cool-down and free weight work.
- Tai Chi/ Chi Gung
- The Yang Family System is practiced using large, circular movements. Chi Gung, which is meditation while standing in postures, is also practiced. An excellent way to increasing balance and coordination while improving your ability to relax.
- World Rhythms
- Dance your way around the world! Flexibility, strength and fun using innovative dance music using moves from around the world.
- Yamuna Body Rolling
- This is a relaxing, energizing workout that elongates tones, strengthens and aligns the body. It feels like an incredible deep tissue massage.
- Yoga (Beginning)
- Introduction to basic yoga.
- Yoga (Hatha)
- An active Iyengar/Flow style yoga class. Standing sequences of postures are practiced and emphasis is given to postural alignment, balance, breathing, flexibility and strength of the body. Each class begins with centering practice and concludes with relaxation.
